Killing Floor Development History
The history of Killing Floor dates back to 2005, when the game was first developed as a full-fledged modification-addon for another, at that time well-known game called Unreal Tournament 2004. The main gameplay elements — gameplay features, mutants, and even weapons remained the same both in the mod and in the commercial full version of Killing Floor released in 2009. Graphics, however, underwent significant changes.
Mod Development
The mod was developed and refined for a long time, starting from version 1.0 and ending with 2.52. By the way, there is information about the development of mod version 3, in which new features and enemies are expected, as well as a new boss (players called him the Matriarch), as well as many new weapons. Version 3 should change the gameplay of the game. Today, this information is no longer a rumor — the version is already in BETA testing.
Snipe34’s Contribution
Thanks to a player under the nickname Snipe34, who alone programmed, modeled, and improved Killing Floor to make the game cooler, more interesting, make buildings taller, and in general, make the game what it should be.
But, as it became known soon, there will be no “addition” of a new version of the game, but only new gameplay. Tripwire, the owners and creators of the mod, allowed Snipe34 to make changes not in the game, but in a new game mod, Killing Floor Story mode.
Two Independent Development Branches
Therefore, the game Killing Floor developed and continues to develop in two, independent of each other, branches. Which version to prefer — it’s up to you to decide.
