Killing Floor Custom Weapons & Skins

One of the main reasons Killing Floor 1 stays alive in 2025 is the incredible modding community. While the vanilla game has a solid arsenal, modded servers introduce hundreds of new guns, creating a fresh experience.

    Why Play with Custom Weapons?

    • Variety: Tired of the standard SCAR and AA12? Try the HK416, P90, or the RPG-7.
    • Balance: Many custom weapons fill “gaps” in the perk balance (e.g., better sidearms for Demolitions, long-range options for Firebug).
    • Visuals: High-quality models ported from newer games (KF2, COD, Battlefield) make the game look more modern.

    1. Assault Rifles (Commando)

    • AK-12: A modernized version of the AK-47 with lower recoil and reflex sights.
    • G36C: High rate of fire, often comes with a holographic sight.
    • FN FAL: A heavy hitter that competes with the SCAR.

    2. Sniper Rifles (Sharpshooter)

    • Barrett M99 (Variants): Modded servers often add semi-auto versions or lighter .50 cal rifles like the M82.
    • Vintorez (VSS): A silent sniper rifle, perfect for stealth runs (if the server supports stealth mechanics).

    3. Heavy Weapons

    • Minigun: A classic modded weapon. Eats ammo instantly but shreds Fleshpounds.
    • Gauss Turret: Deployable turrets (Engineer perk mods).

    How to Get Custom Weapons?

You typically cannot use these in standard Solo play unless you install specific mutators like ScrN Balance or WPC.

The easiest way: Join a modded server (like ours). The server will automatically download the necessary files (textures, sounds, animations) to your cache folder. You just buy them from the Trader menu.

    Server-Side vs Client-Side Skins

    • Server-Side Weapons: Add new gameplay mechanics (damage, recoil). Everyone sees them.
    • Client-Side Skins: Only YOU see them. These are texture replacements for vanilla guns (e.g., Gold AA12). You can install these from GameBanana or ModDB, but be careful—some servers anti-cheat might block them.
