Yes — Scrake really has a chainsaw instead of a hand, so don’t expect any tenderness.
Description
Scrake is one of the strongest specimens in the game. When calm, it moves slowly and can be outrun, but if you enrage it or get too close, Scrake can cut you to pieces in seconds.
Behavior
- When calm, moves fairly slowly and is relatively harmless
- When enraged, charges and won’t stop until it dies or kills all players
- Attacks with a chainsaw mounted in its right arm
Interesting
After you hit Scrake in the head with a Crossbow, don’t fire a second shot until it raises its head — otherwise you will most likely deal little noticeable damage.
Combat tactics
Scrake has a large health pool, so avoid fighting it one-on-one. When you encounter a Scrake, try to draw other players’ attention to it — that greatly increases your chances.
As a Sharpshooter, use a Crossbow or Rifle: headshots can stun it and let you (or your team) finish it safely.
As a Berserker, you can stun Scrake with the alternate attack of the Axe.
As a Commando, only focus Scrake if it is already enraged and pushing a player. Otherwise, clear the smaller specimens around it so stronger perks can kill it with less risk.
As a Firebug or Demolitions, you can stun Scrake with a direct hit from the Husk Gun (Firebug) or the L.A.W (Demolitions).
Background
Scrake was designed by Horzine Biotech as an ideal field medic — able to “operate” on patients right on the battlefield, even while badly wounded. Although its ability to endure enormous pain was considered a success, it was also a flaw: Scrake could learn surgery only by injuring itself, and eventually became addicted to pain.
