Auto-Respawn and Second Chance
Respawn
In the original game, you can’t respawn until the wave is over — and that feels pretty rough for Killing Floor players. Some waves take a long time, and just spectating others isn’t exactly thrilling.
Automatic respawn after death with a waiting timer is enabled on the project’s servers. The main conditions are:
- More than one person must be alive
- OR the server difficulty level must be set lower than “Suicidal”
The respawn delay is calculated as: time = 60 + deaths + deaths * 2.
In other words, the more you die, the longer you’ll have to wait. The base respawn time is 60 seconds on regular waves and 5 minutes on the final boss wave. Players with Premium respawn 50% faster.
Each respawn on a regular wave slightly increases the number of monsters on the map, while respawns on the final wave cause the bosses (Patriarchs) to regain a small percentage of their health.
Every respawn also deducts 20% of your current money
(except on servers with a difficulty level below Suicidal).
After respawning, players are granted 3 seconds of invulnerability.
Second Chance
If the entire team dies on any wave except the final one, that wave will restart and the team gets a second chance to fight through it. This second chance is available only once per map.
When the team respawns on a second chance, players keep their current money balance.
